Women's Soccer Upends Coast Guard, 1-0

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., October 21, 2003 – Springfield College freshman forward
Annemarie Goodwin (Springfield, Mass.) scored the lone goal of the game in the fourth minute of play, as the Pride defeated the Coast Guard Academy, 1-0, in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference women’s soccer match this afternoon.
The match was ended with 11 minutes to play due to lightning.
Springfield senior forward
Laura Harwood (Longmeadow, Mass.) assisted Goodwin’s goal off a corner kick.
SC sophomore goalkeeper
Christina Davis (Orange, Conn.) saved two shots in the match and earned her sixth shutout of the season.
Springfield improves to 7-7-2 on the season, and 4-2-1 in NEWMAC play. It will next be at Clark on Saturday, October 25, for a 1:00 p.m. match.
