

NORTH ADAMS, Mass., September 13, 2005 - Springfield College sophomore forward Christine Turbitt (East Providence, R.I.) led the way with two goals as the Pride downed non-conference foe, MCLA on Tuesday afternoon (Sept. 13), 6-0. Turbitt netted her first goal in the 42nd minute of play, and then in the 82nd minute of action, scored her second of the match. The two goals were the first of the season for the sophomore.
SC (3-0-1) freshman midfielder Lauren Peltier (Agawam, Mass.) scored her first career collegiate goal in what proved to be the game-winner. Junior midfielder Michelle Bongiovanni (West Springfield, Mass.) extended her solid start to the '05 campaign, netting her fourth goal in as many games.
Senior forward Amanda Nealon (Falmouth, Mass.) and sophomore forward Nicole Hanewich (Cumberland, R.I.) each added scores for the Pride.
Freshman keeper Sue Jenney (Agawam, Mass.) made two saves in goal, recording her second-straight shutout in the victory.
SC will look to keep it going as they next travel to Williams College for a match on Thursday, September 15, in a 4:30 p.m. start.
John Gibson, a native of London, England, enters his 10th season as head women's soccer at Springfield College in the fall of 2009. Gibson has led the Pride to the NCAA Tournament in three of the last four years and has established the Pride as one of the top programs in the country. His clubs have registered an impressive a 110-56-14 record.
