Women's Soccer Edges WPI, 1-0

Worcester, Mass. - Oct. 8, 2002 - Junior midfielder Colleen McGovern (Smithfield, R.I.) scored a goal in the 37th minute of play to lead Springfield College to the 1-0 win over host WPI in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's soccer action this evening.

McGovern's goal, assisted by senior midfielder Bonnie Roberts (Belchertown, Mass.), led the Pride to its third-striaight win and second in conference play.

Senior goalkeeper Christine McCarey (Middleboro, Mass.) made eight saves for her third shut-out of the season as Springfield improved to 5-6 and 2-1 in the NEWMAC.
