Annemarie Goodwin (Springfield, Mass.) scored her first goal of the season as the Pride defeated Wellesley College, 3-1, in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women’s soccer match this afternoon.

Jacqueline Landers (Niantic, Conn.) started the scoring for the Pride in the first half as she netted a goal off a feed from junior back
Meghan McTear (Barre, Vt.) in the 36th minute of play.
With the game tied in the second half, SC junior midfielder
Molly Desroches (Belchertown, Mass.) scored the winning goal in the 75th minute.
Wellesley (5-6-2) freshman midfielder Alison Carney scored off a cross from junior midfielder Anna Stanton in the 61st minute of play.
SC sophomore goalkeeper
Christina Davis (Orange, Conn.) saved five shots in the match.
SC improves to 6-7-2 on the season, and 3-2-1 in NEWMAC play. The Pride is at home against Coast Guard on Tuesday, October 21, for a 4:00 p.m. match.

John Gibson, a native of London, England, enters his 10th season as head women's soccer at Springfield College in the fall of 2009. Gibson has led the Pride to the NCAA Tournament in three of the last four years and has established the Pride as one of the top programs in the country.
