Women's Soccer Blanks MIT, 2-0

Cambridge, Mass., Oct. 5, 2002 - Springfield College sophomore Jessica Kovacs (Dalton, Mass.) scored the game winning goal in the 10th minute of play as the Pride defeated MIT in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game at Steinbrenner Stadium.

SC senior Ali Gilbert (Greenwich, Conn.) recorded her first goal of the season in 48th minute to seal the game for the Pride. Senior keeper Christine McCarey (Middleboro, Mass. ) made six saves and posted her second consectuive shutout. Springfield College improves to 4-6 (1-1 NEWMAC) on the season. MIT falls to 6-3 (2-1 NEWMAC).

The Pride travels to Worcester to face WPI on Tuesday, Oct. 9 at 7:00 p.m.
