Rowan University Wins 2002 NCAA Div. III Field Hockey Championship
Springfield College, which celebrates its 40th anniversary of field hockey in 2002, will host the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament Semifinals and Final. After being selected the first pre-determined site in the history of the Division III Field Hockey Championship in 2001, Benedum Field will see another national champion crowned this fall.
On Fri., Nov. 22, the semifinal matches will be played. Salisbury (Md.) University will face Rowan (N.J.) University at 12:00 p.m. followed by The College of New Jersey and Messiah (Pa.) College at 3:00 p.m. The national championship game will take place on Sat., Nov. 23th at 2:00 p.m. For ticket information call (413) 748-3568.
In conjunction with the championship weekend, Benedum Field will be the site of the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Senior All-Star Game on Saturday at approximately 5:30 p.m. A Youth Education Through Sport (YES) field hockey clinic free to girls and boys ages 10-18 will also be held on Saturday from 7:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. To register, call (413) 748-3744.
