Wrestling Handles Norwich, 24-21
NORTHFIELD, Vt. - December 8, 2007 - The Springfield College Pride won five consecutive matches in the middle of the meet en route to a 24-21 victory over Norwich University on Saturday afternoon.Elliot Smith (Richville, N.Y.) continued his winning ways for the Pride as he moved to 10-0 this season after he won on a technical fall, 15-0, at the 184 pound weight class.
The Pride fell behind early as the Cadets picked up the first two wins of the meet at heavyweight and 125. Eddie Giron (Bethpage, N.Y.) started a five-match winning streak for the Pride as he won by an 8-3 decision at the 133-pound weight class. Jamie Sgaglione (North Massapequa, N.Y.) then pinned his opponent in 3:26 before Christopher Deblock (Sparta, N.J.) won 14-8 in his match.
In the 157 weight class, Rob Mifsud (Somers, N.Y.) picked up a 6-4 decision before Jake Tyler (Governeur, N.Y.) cruised to a 10-1 win at 165 .
Smith then picked up his with win after the Cadets won by a medical forfeit at the 174 class. Norwich closed out the meet with a victory at 197.
The Pride return to action on January 8 when it hosts Cortland at 1:00 pm.

Head Coach Daryl Arroyo
Former Springfield College All-American Daryl Arroyo will be entering his 20th season as the head wrestling coach at his alma mater in 2009-10. Under his tutelage, the Springfield College wrestling program has posted a 278-151-6 overall dual-meet record, good for an outstanding .646 winning percentage.
