Women's Volleyball Advances in Volleyball Hall of Fame Classic with 3-1 Win Over Bowdoin

Northampton, Mass. - October 24, 2008 - With a 3-1 win over Bowdoin in the opening game of the Volleyball Hall of Fame Classic on Friday evening, the Springfield College women's volleyball team advanced to Saturday's semifinals.

The Pride, which won its 10th-straight match, improve to 24-4 on the season. Springfield took the match in four games by the scores of 25-14, 25-14, 24-26, 25-12.

Springfield, which is currently ranked second in the New England region by the NCAA, will play at 12:00 pm on Saturday at Smith College against conference-foe Wellesley. The Wellesley Blue are ranked third in the region.

Aylene Ilkson led the way for the Pride in the match as she recorded a double-double with 12 kills and 14 digs. Classmate Heidi Yohe was outstanding on defense as she registered 19 digs in just four games. Heather Lively pitched in with 12 kills, while Bethany Stosz added six blocks in the victory.
