

A sophomore from Medina, Ohio, Ploenes scored a 36.475. Her scores included a 9.250 in both vault and balance beam, a 9.150 on the floor exercise, and 8.825 on the uneven parallel bars.
In the team competition, San Jose State finished first with a score of 192.350. Host UC Davis was second with a tally of 188.625. Seattle Pacific was third at 183.875, and the Pride took fourth with a score of 178.925. San Jose State and UC Davis are both Division I schools, while Seattle Pacific represents Division II.
Springfield performed best in the vault as a team (46.575). Top scores in that event included those of sophomore Jeanne Bradle (New Milford, Conn.) (T12th, 9.475) and junior Jenna Williams (Townsend, Mass.) (14th, 9.450). Junior Jacqui Mazzola (Framingham, Mass.) was 17th with a 9.300. Sophomore Brittany Davis (Shelby, N.C.) was 20th at 9.100, and sophomore Ericca Castagna (Topsfield, Mass.) was 22nd at 9.050.
In the floor exercise, Castagna had SC’s best score (9.175) and finished 10th. Ploenes was next, tied for 11th, with a 9.150. Ploenes was best for SC in the balance beam, tied for 14th with a 9.250. In the bars, it was Bradle who had the best score with a 9.125. She finished 18th.
Up next, Springfield will travel to Rhode Island College on Saturday, Jan. 26 where it will take on RIC along with SUNY Brockport at 7 pm.
