Wrestling Caps Off Terrific Weekend As It Finishes Seventh At Budd Whitehill Duals

Williamsport, Pa. - January 10, 2009 - The Springfield College wrestling team took down a pair of nationally ranked teams on Saturday as it eventually finished seventh at the Budd Whitehill Duals. The Pride upset 17th-ranked Cortland, 25-15, before John Carroll slipped past SC, 20-18. In the seventh-place match, the Pride dominated No. 27 Messiah with a 28-9 victory.

In the upset over fourth-seeded Cortland, Chris Brown remained undefeated for the weekend as he pinned Joe Murphy in 2:58 at the 285 weight class to lead the way.

In the narrow loss to John Carroll, Ronnie Thompson had the highlight for the Pride as he needed just 26 seconds to pin his opponent for a win at 165.

In the 28-9 win over No. 27 Messiah, the Pride won 8 of 10 bouts as it went on to finish seventh in the Duals. Brown finished the weekend undefeated as he picked up a pin in just one minute of action. Greg Dussol also had a solid with with an 18-9 win at 184.
