

Springfield, Mass. - January 12, 2009 - After recording her 1,000 career point last week, Lauren O'Connor was chosen as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Co-Player of the Week.O'Connor shared the award with Wheaton's Krystin Hickey.
O'Connor became the 13th player in school history to reach the 1,000 pointmilestone as she scored a game-high 21 points, as the Springfield College women's basketball team opened up NEWMAC play with an 83-55 win over Wellesley.
The senior from Valhalla, N.Y. went 8-for-12 from the field to go along with a team-high nine rebounds and three steals as she now stands 11th all-time in Springfield scoring history with 1,020 points. For the year, O'Connor is averaging 11.9 points and 10.2 rebounds per game, while shooting 47.8% from the floor.
Entering her 19th season as head coach in 2009-10, Naomi Graves has directed her squads to an impressive 266-117 record (.695 winning percentage) since joining the Division III ranks in 1995. Graves has led the Pride to eleven post-season bids in the past 14 years, including five berths in the NCAA Division III Tournament in the past nine years.
