Computer Graphics / Digital Arts

The Springfield College computer graphics/digital arts program is a hands-on curriculum focusing on three main areas of study: 3d animation, graphic design, and Web design. This combination gives graduates of the computer graphics/digital arts program the necessary skills to compete in a rapidly growing field. With the knowledge they have attained at Springfield College, computer graphics/digital arts graduates go on to careers in such industries as:

Students are taught both the artistic and computer skills needed to be successful in the field of computer graphics/digital arts. The computer graphics/digital arts is located in the Visual and Performing Arts Department, which offers students access to computer labs featuring state-of-the-art technology, classroom and studio space, and galleries in which to display artwork.

3D And 2D Animation

We are now offering a semester in Los Angeles at the Gnomon School of Visual Effects!

Computer graphics/digital arts majors explore animation through the use of MAYA and Flash while learning Web design with Dreamweaver, HTML, and CSS. As they advance, our computer graphics/digital arts students create 3d modeling, motion tests, games, and 3d animation.

Web Design

Springfield College computer graphics/digital arts majors create interactive Web sites using industry standard programs. Students have used their Web design skills to create sites for local nonprofit agencies as a community service project, in keeping with the College’s Humanics mission of leadership in service to others.

Internship/Field Work

In their senior year, students in computer graphics/digital arts select an internship/fieldwork placement in either 3d, graphic design, or Web design, enabling them to experience the "real world" of the computer graphics/digital arts industry. Students fine tune their skills at companies such as:
