Preparation for Licensure
The Psy. D. program is designed to provide graduates with the pre-doctoral educational requirements for licensure as a psychologist in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and for inclusion in the National Register of Health Care Providers. Completion of the program also qualifies candidates for membership in the American Psychological Association and Division 17, Society of Counseling Psychology.
Please note that licensure requirements in Massachusetts include an additional year of post-doctoral supervised experience. Also, licensure requirements vary across states so prospective students are encouraged to review the licensing guidelines in states in which they consider employment. In addition, the National Register of Health Care Providers requires post-doctoral training in order to be listed as a registered provider. Interested students should consult with the National Register to learn about specific post-doctoral training requirements.
