Second Annual Athletic Administration Series
The athletic administration graduate program sponsored the second annual Athletic Administration Series event on Nov. 10, 2011. The event was titled "The Changing Landscape of College Athletics." Guest panelists included Tom Yeager '72, G'75, who serves as the commissioner of the Colonial Athletic Association and Wendy Guthrie G'95 who was previously commissioner for the West Coast Conference and is serving currently as the commissioner of the Northwest Conference.
Springfield College Hosts Middle Eastern Sports Professionals
Sports professionals from the Middle East were on campus in early September as part of a benchmarking trip undertaken to help them determine best practices in physical education and sport.
Salah Al-Saka, Ph.D., and Jemel Buck traveled on behalf of the Saudi National School Sports and Physical Education (K-12) Advisory Committee and the Saudi University Sport Federation, of which Al-Saka is a member and Buck is a consultant. Buck is also the chief executive officer of the Middle Eastern Sports Academy in Dubai. Read the full story here.
Springfield College Professor Inducted into Northeast Women's Hall of Fame for Promoting Advancement of Girls and Women in Sport
Kathleen J. Mangano, of Holyoke, Mass., associate professor of physical education and chair of the physical education and health education department at Springfield College, was inducted into the New Agenda: Northeast Women's Hall of Fame. She was honored for promoting the advancement of girls and women in sport.
